From pastoral valleys with quaint little villages dotting the slopes to forbidding Alpine passes where perennial ice and snow linger over the massifs, this prestigious unit actually travels on three distinct railway systems from its start at Sankt Moritz in Graubunden, via Andermatt in Uri and finally to Brig and Zermatt in the Valeis canton. This program hilights the perhaps most dramatic section of its itinerary on the Furka Oberalp Bahn, from the historic resort of Disentis and its imposing Dominican monastary to the metropolitan city and important junction of Brig, by way of an amazing rack climb over the snowbound pass of Oberalp at over 2000 meters of altitude. Filmed aboard the panoramic cab of F.O. electric locomotive HGe 4/4 II number 106 'San Gottardo' heading the prestigious westbound 'Glacier Express' and while accompanied by a high ranking F.O. official team, the program presents the exciting and quite stunning view of the line as experienced in real-time by the train's engineer. Of great effect and with the exception of tunnel crossings, an absolute minimum of time-editing or translation from the German and Italian spoken in the cab was performed so as to offer a complete, actual and enjoyable journey on this famous railway.
