T119DVD The Swiss Jungfrau Railways (1992) DVD
T119DVD
At the very heart of Switzerland, the canton of the Berner Oberland is a region rich in history and culture, but above all known for its truely stunning landscapes of lush valleys, rushing torrents and the towering range of the central Alps. Of particular interest, an area known as the Jungfrau region is renowned for its picturesque settings hilighted by the massifs of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau mountains. Here a consortium of narrow gauge lines comprising the BOB, the WAB and the JB railways, assist tourists and outdoor enthusiasts to a marvelous voyage through one of the world's finest and exciting localities. From Interlaken, where the standard gauge SBB and BLS railways as well as the rack Brunig line from Lucerne link to the Swiss network, the Berner Oberland Bahn commences a southerly course and reaches a junction where it divides into two branch lines ending in the renowned resorts of Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen. The scenery through the lush valleys undergoes a drastic variation of mountain terrain, where the railway requires the use of rack adhesion. Also connecting the two Alpine resorts and thus completing a unique circle, the Wengeralp Bahn railway assaults the formidable mountain flanks in a setting of snow-bound and wind-swept locales joining at the high altitude center of Kleine Scheidegg. The journey is not quite over yet as still another railway, the Jungfrau Bahn, quickly enters inside the Eiger mountain to reach the peak of the Jungfraujoch, Europe's highest station and observation belvedere. English, 80 MN full color. NTSC USA/CANADA/JAPAN standard.
