In February 2002, REOS visited Andermatt in the midst of winter. As the sun sets the snow starts to fall. The wind picks up and adds to the atmosphere of the scene. Despite the severe winter conditions, the railway staff of the Furka-Oberalp-Bahn ensure the trains run to time. In the early morning we encounter the snowplough in Willer ,the "new" area of Andermatt on the hills of the Oberalp Pass. In Andermatt we film on the platform and at the bottom of the Oberalp Pass where trains enter the rack and pinion section. Durring the winter season there is only one Glacier-Express in each direction a day; at 13.30hrs,the trains meet in Andermatt. The dining car is shunted from the Zermatt train to the train bound for St. Moritz. At Nätchen station we filmed in a "small" blizzard . Descending down towards Andermatt the weather improves while we make recordings of Andermatt from the Oberalp Pass. Maps are provided to indicate camera locations. We only use original sound recordings without any commentary or music. Running time 75 minutes. REOS production. NTSC USA/CANADA/JAPAN standard.
